Ditch the candy, says dentist

From staff reports
A local dentist is working to redefine the phrase, "put your money where your mouth is." Dr. Bill Manning of The Colony is supporting the anti-decay movement by giving away dollars and electric glowing toothbrushes in exchange for cavity-provoking candy.
This Halloween, Oct. 31, trick-or-treaters can bring their excess candy to Ridgepointe Dental, 4200 Main St., and recieve $1 per pound. Candy also will be collected from 2 to 4 p.m. the day after Halloween, Nov. 1, and from 3 to 6 p.m. Nov. 2. Candy proceeds will then be shipped to U.S. troops serving overseas.
"Ditch the candy. That's what were saying. Visiting your dentist twice a year and brushing daily are great preventative measures, but doing away with excess sweets altogether would really give your teeth a healthy boost," Manning said. "Kids can still have all of the fun of trick-or-treating, and now their piggy banks will benefit as well. Plus, these glowing brushes we're giving out are really cool."
For information on Ridgepointe Dental's candy buy-back, call 972-625-4746. All candy must be unopened.
