Two-year-old dies after pool incident
By BLAINE CRIMMINS, bcrimmins@acnpapers.com
A party in Denton on Saturday night came to a tragic end with the apparent drowning death of a 2-year-old boy from The Colony.
The victim was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner as Solomon Tusant. Though the cause of death has not yet been officially determined, Tusant was pulled from a community pool on Lake View Boulevard after friends and family at the party noticed he was missing.
Public Information Officer Ryan Grelle of the Denton Police Department said Tusant was attending a party at a friend's house. As the party was ending, attendees noticed that the boy was missing before finding him in the pool.
Grelle said the emergency call reporting the incident was received by dispatch at about 9:30 p.m. Medics transported Tusant to Denton Regional Medical Center, where it was decided he should be to sent to Medical City Dallas, Grelle said.
Tusant was loaded for transport by CareFlite. The aircraft took off but soon landed back down as CareFlite medics were performing CPR again. Grelle said the boy was taken to the emergency room where hospital staff worked on him a short time before he died.
Tusant was pronounced dead at 11:37 p.m., according to the Medical Examiner's report.
"It's a sad situation anytime something like this happens to a child, especially so close to the holidays," Grelle said. "It's a tragic accident."
